The EuroHPC Summit 2025, held from 18–20 March at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre, was one of the most significant tech events in Europe this year.
This edition stood out not only for its prestigious agenda but also for its exceptional setting—the impressive spaces of ICE Kraków Congress Centre provided the perfect backdrop for conversations about the future of supercomputing, artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies in Europe.
The event drew over 1,000 attendees on the very first day, with the plenary and breakout rooms packed throughout the summit. Excellent organization, a warm and collaborative atmosphere—and over 700 Grójec apples, which unexpectedly became the unofficial symbol of the coffee break—won praise from participants from across Europe (and beyond).
NCKO on the Summit Stage
Our representatives actively contributed to the event’s content-rich program:
♦ Marek Magryś (Director, AGH Cyfronet) took part in the session “AI vs. Sustainability: Finding a Balance?”
♦ PhD Eng. Mateusz Tykierko (Wrocław Centre for Networking and Supercomputing, Wrocław Tech) joined the panel “AI Factories and Cloud Integration: Unlocking Scalable and Flexible AI Workflows”
Both talks addressed key topics shaping the future of European computing infrastructure—focusing on integrating AI with cloud environments and balancing technological progress with environmental responsibility.
Highlights & Key Discussions
Among the most inspiring moments of the EuroHPC Summit 2025 were:
– the Quantum Insight Tunnel, showcasing European quantum technologies,
– a panel on attracting diverse talents to HPC, encouraging participation not just from STEM backgrounds but also the humanities,
– and the Demo Lab, where participants could explore real-world supercomputers in action.
A particularly well-attended session focused on industry needs and how the EuroHPC infrastructure is evolving to meet them. Discussions also spotlighted the DARE project, aiming to build European processors for large-scale computing and AI based on open RISC-V architecture, and the emerging concept of AI Factories, supporting AI development in SMEs.
The Destination Earth initiative—a digital twin of our planet—captivated the imagination of many participants, pointing toward an even more futuristic technological horizon.
Takeaways & Reflections
The EuroHPC Summit 2025 made it clear: Europe works hard to create a cohesive, innovative ecosystem where supercomputing, AI, and quantum technologies come together. Strong engagement from academia, industry, and policymakers alike demonstrated a shared commitment to building Europe’s digital future.
Beyond the high-quality content, one of the event’s greatest strengths was its ability to communicate complex topics in ways that were both engaging for experts and accessible to newcomers. With tremendous interest, a strong international presence, and seamless logistics, the summit was undoubtedly a success—inspiring, forward-looking, and full of momentum.
